5 free tools and tricks to spurn spam
- Forget about having multiple email addresses: for personal use, you only need one email address. Web-based email services from Google, Hotmail, or Yahoo provide all the capacity, security and spam protection you should need.
- If you use Outlook Express or any other desktop based email client, give Mailwasher a try. With this, you can preview and delete emails from the actual server, thereby saving you time.
- Alternatively, you could set filters and whitelists to identify which email senders are real contacts and which are fakes. Your current email application will allow you to create filters. Go to the help function to find out how to set up a filter.
- Avoid giving out your work email address while casually browsing. Use a generic email, such as Googlemail, for this purpose.
- Ignore Spam email. Most spam mails now come with embedded images. Opening the message and displaying the image alerts the spammer that your email is active.
